For network permissions in general, the Windows user our software runs under must have read, write, and modify permissions to the network resource. In all cases below, read, write, and modify permissions are necessary for our software to function, unless otherwise noted. The lone exception is read-only spec plans stored on the network. As long as the spec plans do not have any features enabled that require writing to the spec plan, they can be read-only (see QC-Gage Spec Plans).

QC-Gage Spec Plans

The Spec Plan Folder can be read-only if the spec plans don’t have options enabled that require write access. If your spec plans use any of the settings below, QC-Gage must be able to write to the spec plan folder and will produce permissions error messages if it does not have the required access:

  • Choose Gages > Use this Spec Plan for Mastering Gages
  • Trace Fields > Trace Field Setup > Options area > Remember value between sessions
  • Group Assignment > Group Type > Assign groups based on a sequence
  • Group Assignment > Group Type > Assign groups based on user selection

Common Install Paths

For all of our software, the following folders and their subfolders must be readable, writeable, and modifiable by the Windows user that runs our software:

  • v.3.x
    • C:\Prolink\
  • v.4.x
    • C:\Users\Public\Prolink\
    • C:\ProgramData\Prolink\
