Why Is My Install Wizard menu disabled?

QUESTION
Why is the Install Wizard menu disabled in QC-CALC Real-Time?

ANSWER
There are two common reasons for this to be the case.

  1. Your copy of QC-CALC Real-Time is licensed as a QC-CALC Gage Central. If you have purchased QC-CALC Gage Central to collect data from your various QC-Gage copies, then Gage Central only allows data collection from QC-Gage. Since you cannot change this setting we disabled the Install Wizard menu.

    How to tell: Go to Help > About. On the About screen, look for a label that says Model Code. If the value to the right of the Model Code is CENT, then you are licensed for Gage Central and that is why the Install Wizard is disabled.
  2. Someone at your facility has password protected the menu to keep others from inadvertently changing the machine type.

    How to tell: Unfortunately, there isn't a 100% test to tell if someone has locked your menu. However, you can check to see if menus are locked in general. Go to Tools > Password. In the sub-menu that pops out to the right of Password, if there is a menu called Unlock Menus, then at least some of them menus have been locked. This is probably the reason the Install Wizard menu has been disabled. If there is a menu called Lock Menus, then none of the menus are currently locked and this is not why the Install Wizard menu is disabled.
