PROBLEM

After applying a Windows update your Excel exports from QC-CALC are now returning an error.

CAUSE

A Windows security update released on 10/10/17 caused issues with the method QC-CALC Real-Time uses to export to Excel. The specific updates were:

  • KB4041676 for Windows 10
  • KB4041681 for Windows 7

RESOLUTION

We have released an update for QC-CALC (rev. 3.4.126) that allows you to continue exporting to all of your Excel documents. In order to correct the issue with exporting to Excel you need to update your QC-CALC software and you may also need to download and install the Microsoft Access Database Engine from the Microsoft website.

Step 1: Update QC-CALC to 3.4.126 or later.

Step 2: Test the export that previously failed.

  • If you already have the Microsoft Access Database Engine then the export will be successful and you can continue working as before.
  • If it is not successful you will receive the following error because you do not have the Microsoft Access Database Engine:

** Error Number: 3706 Description: Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.

Step 3 (if error received in Step 2):Download and install the correct Microsoft Access Database Engine for your operating system.  Windows 7:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • You can continue exporting to the same xls file.
  • If you changed your export settings as a temporary workaround, change the settings back to the exact export settings from before.
